As part of our range of point supported glass fittings, we have designed, developed and successfully manufactured a system for point supported, tempered, Insulated Glass Units (IGUs). Our fittings are fabricated from stainless steel with the highest quality pressure seals. They are supplied to the glass fabricator who bolts them to the inner light of the glass prior to the assembly of the IGU. Each IGU consists of a structural glass inner light which is usually 10mm - 12mm thick and, prior to tempering, is drilled to receive our bolted system. The air gap between the glass panels is determined by the thermal requirements of the building but is usually 12.7mm (1/2”). The outer panel of glass is bonded to the inner light with the usual spacer bar primary seal, followed by a high quality structural silicone designed to support the outer light on all four edges.

The outer glass presents a sheer face, uninterrupted by fixing bolts.
The inner and outer glass lites are allowed to perform independently, one being a bolted glass assembly and the other being a four edge structural support. The outer and inner glass assist one another in resisting wind loads |
